Painted just before their encounter, Moment de Transition from 1934 is a magnificent and rare example of Dali’s ability to use his inventive powers to create transforming images that undermined reality. The instability provoked by the experience of misreading the images he created could be both a source of pleasure and disquiet. In this eerie #Catalan #landscape, the wheels of the cart are no more than two sticks stuck in the ground, and the rider is revealed to be one of the buildings in the distant town.
