I've spent this treacherously icey morning staring at the same blank page - the coffee has grown cold in the mug beside me, kept company by a few crusts of uneaten toast. Though I am constantly scribbling observations, moments sensed, ideas, tastes, conversations overheard, sunrises witnessed on little ragged scraps of paper or in hopelessly unorganized journals, sitting down with intention this morning I find all language eluding me & I can't quite conjure the right words or corral ideas into the neat little sentences they require
instead, my mind keeps wandering off - over the Atlantic to a house in england- one which is both actual and lives as an ethereal touchstone of my mind - kettles yard.
I visited often while I lived in London, hopping the train up to Cambridge and spending hours inside - finding inspiration if the smallest moments - a texture a pattern a swath of light on a river smoothed rock - it is a seemingly simple place and yet one of the most complex and captivating I have ever been in - effortless and complicated in the same breath and full to the brim with the beauty of the everyday
