"Be confident in your own skin." Well when you put it like that, it all sounds so easy. So instant. As if I'll immediately be comfortable with who I am and where I'm at just by deciding to be. We've come to expect everything to be as simple as downloading a song or purchasing a shirt. We want it, we take the necessary and often simple action, and then boom, it's ours forever. In a world of instant gratification, it's a tough pill to swallow that self-love is a journey that we not only have to decide to take, but one that we'll be on for the rest of our lives. Think back to when you first started on your fitness journey. You had a goal: An image of what "fit" looked like to you-what you imagined that you'd be satisfied with. Fast forward to today, and many of you may have reached that goal only to set your eyes on further progress. Fitness. Success. Self confidence. They're all moving targets in our lives. As we grow and evolve, so do our strengths, insecurities, and goals. The older I get, the more I'm realizing that the things that made me insecure a few years ago, don't seem to affect me in the same ways. In their place, are new and unfamiliar insecurities. Strange feelings of self doubt and anxiety about the future. Kind of feels like I'm back at square one. Like I left a high paying executive position to start from the bottom at a new one. Seems... foreign. Four years ago, I made the decision to love and accept my natural body when I began @getfitandthick. Since then, you all have been part of that journey with me. Maybe you even began that journey for yourself as well. Maybe like me, you've made peace with your old demons and are now faced with new struggles and insecurities. Maybe you don't quite remember how or where to begin. They say "the only time you should look back is to see how far you've come." Well maybe for today, we should do just that and congratulate ourselves for conquering the things that controlled us for so long. Maybe that's just the motivation that we'll need to begin, once again, on this endless journey of self love. #selflove #trusttheprocess #fitandthick
