Photo: @jim_sugar |Short trip down Memory Lane in honor of Bill Snead, a great photographer, friend, and mentor. The camera bag, in nearly mint condition is a Snead Bag, which Bill designed and manufactured, during the Vietnam War era. Bill sold this bag to me for about $40. The cameras, also from the same era are a Nikon F and a Leica M-4. The light meter is a Weston Master 4, the most popular meter during that era. I included two rolls of film, Plus X and Tri X, in the photo because this was a generation of film, before digital and before the Internet. Now Mike Corrado may have never used either of these cameras but Steve Raymer, J. Bruce Baumann, Jim Moore, Donald R. Winslow, David Kennerly, Gordon Gahan, Dave Burnett, Frank Johnston, Dick Swanson, Jim Stanfield, John Isaac,Bruce Dale, John Dominis, and Larry Burrows earned their stripes and built their careers with variations on this gear. When Bill left us this week, I realized that I still have all of the gear that he used and represented. Bill Snead was a giant in photography. The Snead Bag is a reminder of the wonderful memories that he left behind. @thephotosociety @National Geographic Travel @natgeocreative
