Celebrated the 10th anniversary of the People’s Action Party Policy Forum (PPF) last night.
At my dialogue after dinner, I was asked how the PAP could stay relevant to Singaporeans. I answered that (1) we should continue to serve the people 为人民服务; (2) we should debate policies and contribute ideas, as the PPF is doing; and (3) we should provide dedicated, capable leadership for the nation.
PPF’s first Advisor Heng Swee Keat spoke about forging a generation of new pioneers for Singapore. Our challenges today are different. But the spirit of our founding fathers – their sense of togetherness, toughness and ability to turn weaknesses into strengths – will take Singapore forward beyond SG50. – LHL
