Work on MRT trains does not stop when the last passengers alight and the stations close.

I paid a midnight visit to the SMRT Bishan Depot last night. The night crew were busy maintaining and upgrading the trains and the tracks, while the rest of Singapore slept. Kamal (in pic) remembers me from the SAF – we last met in Brunei 30 years ago!

I thanked the engineers and technicians for keeping our trains running smoothly. It is not an easy job, especially when a train breaks down and brickbats fly. But I told them that they have my full support, so long as they do their best. - LHL (MCI Photo by Terence Tan)
