Photo: @joannapinneo | It's July in Pamplona, Spain. Time for the festival of San Fermin or, as immortalized in Ernest Hemingway’s debut novel “The Sun Also Rises”, the running of the bulls. Each day for a week the thundering hoofs of bulls and scampering feet of runners race through the streets of Pamplona. The encierro, as the running through the streets is called, starts precisely at 8 am with the launching of two rockets. The runners raise rolled newspapers and chant to an image of San Fermin. Viva San Fermin! Gora San Fermin! The 825 meter run of humans and bulls usually lasts between three and four minutes.
