This is an outtake from a story that I photographed for @ナショナルジオグラフィック on "Who are the #Phoenicians " The African continent lies only 7.7 nautical miles (14.3) from what was once know as "the Pillars of Hercules". The Phoenicians, the first people to sail by the North Star traveled past the rock to western coast of Spain and Africa for silver and gold, it turns out that after DNA testing that the Phoenicians are from modern Syria, Lebanon & Isreal. #SpencerWells #PierreZalloua @Robert Clark @thephotosociety @instituteartist
