The large opening in the middle of the skull, which is actually the nasal cavity for the trunk, may have been misinterpreted as a single eye socket. Part of our first ever Natural History sale in Asia, this unique Woolly Mammoth skull is headed for auction at #SothebysHongKong this week. Measuring 7 1/2 feet long, it features striking blue and blue-green colors swirled in the tusks, the result of the skull having fossilized in soil containing the rare mineral Vivianite.
