The enchanting gardens that surrounded their atelier provided constant inspiration and ultimately became an extension of their art. Claude’s pommes, or apples, are one of the most recognizable Lalanne motifs. Throughout her career Claude depicted the symbolic fruit in a variety of iterations—and the one pictured here seems to have been picked right from their orchard.
