I’ve been on a mission for many years to document this remarkable family of birds and share them with the world to inspire preservation of the rainforest of the New Guinea region, including Papua New Guinea and the Indonesian provinces in western Papua and the Moluccan islands.

Here are the names of the ten species featured, and their locations:
1) Wilson’s BoP, Waigeo Island, West Papua, Indonesia
2) Raggiana BoP, Southern Highlands Province, PNG
3) Magnificent BoP, Arfak Mountains, West Papua, Indonesia
4) Red BoP, Waigeo Island, West Papua, Indonesia
5) Standardwing BoP, Halmahera Island, Indonesia
6) Western Parotia BoP, Arfak Mountains, West Papua, Indonesia
7) King BoP, Oransbari, West Papua, Indonesia
8) Greater Superb BoP, Southern Highlands Province, PNG
9) Goldies’ BoP, Fergusson Island, PNG
10) Blue BoP, Southern Highlands Province, PNG

The island of New Guinea, including both halves spanning PNG the Indonesian part, has the largest block of intact rainforest in the entire Asia-Pacific region. Let’s protect it for the benefit of the birds-of-paradise, and the health of our planet!
