@amilliontinylines again! One of my favorite details to draw is backlit hairs, like the hairs along the jaw of this Icelandic horse. To get the hairs fine enough, I actually don’t use a white gel pen like many assume. Instead, I draw out the hairs in pencil first, then I use my 003 MICRON pen and a very light crosshatching technique to draw around the penciled hairs. When I erase the pencil, the hairs are left as negative space on the white paper. It’s a bit tedious, but it turns out nicely and matches the tone of the rest of the drawing better. ⁠
