From what I’ve seen and heard, a lot of artists out there, if not most, deal with some level of imposter syndrome. Personally, I’m really hard on myself and a bit of a perfectionist, so I have trouble recognizing when I do good work, even if it’s not the best in the world.⁠ ⁠ It’s important to remember that everyone’s best is different. Just because your best might not look like someone else’s best, it’s still YOUR best. And doing your best is always something to be proud of. Your best is unique and individual, just like you. When you do your best, you’re expressing the peak of what makes you YOU; the full experience, the whole shebang. Celebrate that, and take pride in it, because nobody, not one single person, can do your best like you can.⁠ ⁠ One component of doing your best is to use the tools that work best for you. I tried out a lot of different illustration pens before falling hard for my MICRON pens by SAKURA. People often ask how many pens I go through for each drawing, assuming it’s a lot. But one of my favorite things about my MICRON pens is their longevity. It takes quite a lot to tire out a MICRON, and even when they’re on their last legs, they’re still good for other uses. For example, I have one old brush tip MICRON pen that I’ve had forever. But now it gives me these super-soft strokes that are perfect for fuzzy fur or for blending.
