I personally think that one of the biggest challenges emerging artists face is finding their own unique, distinct style of art. It’s difficult, with all the incredible art out there, but also SO important. When I began the journey of trying to make my own art about three years ago I was heavily influenced by popular artists whose styles I loved. I tried to replicate their styles, but my art was lacking something. I was frustrated and confused until I finally realized what my art was lacking: me. My real breakthrough as an artist happened when I went from “I want my art to look like theirs” to “I want my art to FEEL like ME”. Art is so personal. It’s a way to convey yourself to the world, a silent and passionate voice, a place to keep a bit of your heart and soul. The journey to discovering your own style of art is so important because really, it’s a journey of self-discovery. If you’re new to art, don’t worry if you feel lost and unsettled. You’re not lost, you’re just exploring, which is exactly what you should be doing right now. Your unique and personal path is waiting for you and not going anywhere, and if you explore long enough, you’ll find it eventually. This drawing, Wild at Heart, is part of a series of three called Lifestyle that also includes lungs and a brain, which you can check out on my insta! I used my MICRON pens by SAKURA as per usual for this drawing, including my favorite size, 003, for the smaller details. For neutrals, I use a black watercolor wash from KOI watercolors. #pigmamicron #gellyroll #sakurakoi #blackwork #inkdrawing #drawing #wildlife #nature」2月16日 9時01分 - sakuraofamerica
