Batman is cool, but have you heard about the bat ray? Named because of its triangular pectoral fins, these rays glide gracefully through the water as if in flight, like a bat or a bird. Rays will also flap these powerful fins when hunting to displace sand and expose buried prey. Once prey has been acquired, this species will use its powerful teeth to crush even the strongest of clam shells, giving access to the soft, fleshy parts within.
