ジョン・スタンメイヤーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ジョン・スタンメイヤーInstagram)「For a while, I have meant to share this photograph. If I have before, my apologies…it was a few weeks after a 30 meter (100 foot) wall of water inundated much of the coastal Aceh region in northern Sumatra, Indonesia. I was inside an Achenese coffeehouse. More correctly, a makeshift, temporary structure created from salvaged wood bits...the original had been swept into the sea. It's common for older Indonesian men to wear a hat called a songkok. Usually covered in black felt, the songkok's origins can be traced to fez's worn in parts of North Africa and Turkey. Like most things that arrived in Indonesia centuries ago via sea traders, the Indonesians beautifully adapted the fez to suit the unique culture so specific to this archipelago nation. While sipping overly sweet Achenese kopi susu (kopi - a thick, inky version of Javanese coffee, entirely unique to Ache, doused in sweetened condensed milk - susu), I heard the sound of a Russian helicopter. I knew it was Russian because of the specific sound this large cargo helicopter makes. As it flew near, I noticed a truck, dangling maybe 30 or more meters (100+ feet) below, slung in a large fishnet…with every road decimated by the 2004 tsunami, the only way aid agencies could bring badly needed equipment to such a vast destroyed area, was by helicopter. Just outside of the open-air coffee shop was an older man who had survived the tsunami, standing handsome, wearing his songkok. Gently leaving my coffee on the table, the flying truck passed behind the man as if popping out of his right eye. Expect the unexpected. Always there's some strange beauty. And on that particular occasion, while drinking a cup of coffee, a chance to meet Popeye. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ from the @natgeo story #HopeInHell #indonesia #sumatra #aceh #2004tsunami #relief #truck #helicopter #songkok #portrait #popeye #fromthearchives」2月3日 11時25分 - johnstanmeyer
