So were the actors of humanity. Add a rocket flame-thrower to boil water that pre-cooks rice in its husk to trick the stomach you’ve eaten more than you have, and so presents the evils of poverty and the rising cost of food all in one moment. Pieces of many from a worldwide story I photographed a few years ago for @natgeo, including the village rice processing center in Rangpur, northern Bangladesh. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Silhouettes bore me. Why? There’s no emotional meaning of purpose nor depth of consciousness. Sleepy picture postcards... someone walking on a sunsetting beach, a landscape with mountains, with a building silhouetted in the foreground... come on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Soon, I will begin a series of videos on TikTok and here on Instagram Live called “Ask Me Anything!” I hope to share with working and aspiring photographers how to let go of the boredom state of photography I’m seeing. A repetition that isn’t enlightening us beyond what we already know, and why now, at this moment in history, we need to go into daring and beautiful depth-spaces of visual storytelling that causes us to rethink who we are, where we are going. If not, we will continue the same cycles of war, division, environmental loss, and, yes, uninteresting photography that, for whatever reason we like, limiting ourselves in unending, uninspiring art in little purpose.
