Say hello to the Guyandotte River Crayfish. As it is currently understood, this species is limited to roughly 30 miles of streams in West Virginia, though at one time they may have lived in more than 800 miles of streams in the Upper Guyandotte River. Conservationists are currently trying to learn as much as they can about this crayfish’s biology so they can effectively conserve the species for future generations.
