Primarily a hunter of small mammals such as rats and mice, the Indonesian spitting cobra may also feed on frogs and even other snakes. This nocturnal serpent spends much of its time on the ground and can be very defensive, spitting out venom when it feels threatened. While its venom is potent, it is not particularly rapid-acting, and very few human fatalities have been attributed to this species.
