Instead pay attention, recognise who people truly are and what they’re capable of and ask yourself if they’re on the same page and level in life as you. You cannot change a person, only they can change themselves; often we spend years of our lives trying to convince ourselves that we can help people close to us to “get better” “be a better person” and become the person we deserve to have by our side throughout life, when the harsh reality is that they were utterly wrong for us from the very beginning and bending over backwards, suffering and losing out on true love and happiness trying to make something wrong be right will never work. It’s not until you recognise what RIGHT truly is that you’ll see how WRONG everything else was, and most importantly WHY! I went through an old phone of mine the other day and saw pictures and messages from some time ago and felt utterly shocked over how I was treated, and more importantly how I responded - what a doormat! Looking at it with fresh eyes I didn’t even recognise myself, what happened to my backbone, identity, self worth and spirit? Was I under a spell!? I honestly believed the negativity I was being told, the manipulation and suffocating way I was controlled. I wish I knew then what I know now. I wish I had the strength and belief in myself to end it far sooner, lock the door, throw away the key and block the number.
