Intoxicated by the cult of celebrity, Andy Warhol admired many of his subjects from afar. But things were different with Mick Jagger. The pair met for the first time in 1964, when the @The Rolling Stones were still relatively unknown in America. Warhol designed the album cover for the band's 1971 album Sticky Fingers, and the rest was history. Created in 1975, Warhol's series of prints of Jagger took on an iconic status, depicting the rock star in a variety of poses, surrounded by abstract splashes of block color.
