You can see the real truth behind their words and feel the hidden pain behind a smile. Social media has conditioned us all to think of anything less than perfect to be wrong, not good enough and something that we shouldn’t discuss or share - as if everybody pretends not to have flaws or feel real emotion anymore when we’re all human and it’s completely normal to do so. We all deal with things in different ways and I’ve been shut off to emotion in the past to protect myself after being hurt so I know how it feels; but equally the feeling of being wholeheartedly honest and open is far better than having to build your walls high to not let anybody in. Nobody can ever hurt you or let you down if you’re strong enough in your own skin to know where you stand and to feel complete in the person that you are. Instead of protecting ourselves against others we should deepen our strength and understanding of ourselves and self worth. I wish more people could make eye contact and be their true selves around others, what a sweet world it would be if false ideals gave way to genuine souls and we can freely say what we truly think and feel without fear of judgement or criticism.
