Downtown LA server Luh Putu "Niti" Suarniti wanted a way to showcase the flavors of her hometown of Ubud, Bali. After doing a one-night pop-up in 2018, she restarted Bali Mesari (@balimesaridtla) from her home kitchen in Hollywood serving ayam bakar, a sambal-laden chicken leg, and nasi jinggo, a classic Balinese street food with shredded chicken and sweet tempeh next to gorgeous turmeric-coconut rice.
