Photo by @Tim Laman. Common Loon portrait. Echo Lake, Mount Desert Island. I love the way the water drops on a loon’s head form neat lines after they come up from a dive. They must be lining up along feather tracks or something, though the feathers are so fine you can hardly make them out. Also, a close view like this in the right light reveals some purple iridescence in the head plumage. It’s been a great pleasure to spend the last two weeks filming these birds for the #CornellLabofOrnithology. #loon #Maine #AcadiaNationalPark #shotonRED @reddigitalcinema
