May we remember evenings spent reveling in it and settling into it all, playing games at the coffee table, before there was a couch and the previous owner’s nails were still pounded into the walls, and the library was still pink and bare of shelves and the books were simply stacked on the floor. May we remember that we lived very small, and we sacrificed so much so that we could live on the road, and that we can go back anytime if we need, but that for now, this is where we are meant to be. May we remember these days where it can only be us in this house. The days of settling in and dreaming of what it will be, dreaming of the days where we can host guests and parties and make big rambling meals, but until then, we have time to prepare and get it right. May we remember that we had all the choices of where to settle down, and that it was once so overwhelming that we chose to not settle at all, but when the world was turned upside down, we couldn’t pretend we were okay being nomads any longer.
