My name is Saghar, and I’m an Iranian food photographer and writer based in Rome, where I have been living since 2007. Here you’re likely to find stuff about Italy, (and Rome in particular) and sometimes Iran. My digital platforms have been rather neglected during the past few months as I’m recovering from an accident, but I tend to share stories regarding matters that are most valuable to me; anything from immigration and mutual cultural influence, contemporary issues to cute baby goats. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Before the pandemic and the lockdown (which feels like a lifetime ago) you could also often find me teaching mostly Persian and occasionally Italian (Roman) cooking classes, or food photography workshops, taking visitors around Rome in hunt of delicious food, or running retreats around Italy. Other times you’d find me cooking, photographing and writing. I haven’t done any of those things in more than three months, and this beautiful “Arista” (roast pork loin) covered in pancetta with pears, chestnuts and onions is one the first things I have cooked and shot now that I’m gradually going back to work. I can’t promise you’ll see this recipe anytime soon on my blog (the link is in bio), but I’m also planning to update my long neglected blog with some photo essays from previous travels.
