Yes, the numbers of infection in Italy are high, but Italian national health care is doing a hell of job at controlling it. There’s only a small red zone in the north, and life is pretty much going on normally elsewhere, only much, much quieter. While I’m thankful that we’re ok and taken care of, I must also say that business is suffering a lot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For a country that basically runs with tourism (specially from the North down) to say that that economy has taken a big blow is an understatement. Seeing the normally crowded historical sight absolutely empty is very weird. Businesses small and large are very worried, that’s the lives of many people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As worried as I am too on what’s gonna happen the next months after all of these cancelations, I must admit, I’m also inspired. The rhythm has changed. There are new possibilities, such as visiting the Roman Forums, or the Saint Peters church, or other usually over-crowded landmarks. I know that this is not a possibility for everyone (the schools and universities are shutting down in a precautionary move for at least 10 days tomorrow), but still, I believe there’s opportunity in these days of mandatory rest. It’s also at chance at union, putting social welfare above personal comfort. To make phone calls and send messages to the ones we can’t meet face to face. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I wish I could say the same for Iran, where the situation is actually horrible, and truly out of control. The government has no control whatsoever on the infection, is in denial and even some people don’t seem to take the virus seriously. This is the last hard blow of the Persian year right before Norouz, the new year and spring, in definitely one of the hardest years of the last decades of Iran. Helplessly heartbreaking. It’s ridiculous, my parents are worried about me in Italy and I’m worried about my family in Iran. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But this shall pass too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #covid19 #coronavirus」3月5日 7時08分 - labnoon
