Kind, intelligent, nonstop committed, Santiago with an assistant spent most of today as a ballerina on stilts. Originally from Honduras and immigrating here over twenty years ago, we talked often about migration, solutions, how he’s worked from having nothing when fleeing corruption, poverty and violence. Today he’s saved enough money to buy old rundown homes, like my crumb bumbly one, restoring and reselling. I could never have such a good conversation with the other wall guy. Maybe that’s because he rarely appeared. I found the riding lady to the horse that’s been trotting on the window since Christmas, and the useless dryer vent pipe remains...I just love its worthless beauty. Santiago floated like Baryshnikov a meter above me and around books I found in a bag... a beautiful boxset of prints by @4.plus, Neil Gaiman’s @neilhimself “Art Matters”, “The Year Of The Dogs” by @vincentjmusi, Ben Brody’s @doctorbrody “Attention Servicemember“, @ilvynjio’s “Born Free” and @natgeo’s Women, atop the cabinet from Tibet. The sad...these guys are too good, making the walls too perfect. I am already missing the cracked, and original red paint brushed in 1900. This day in 2020, it’s gone forever. If there is a way to sustain the dreamlike smeary covering Santiago applied, in this mixed wet and dry state, I would leave it.
