14-year-old Jacob Wong had to miss his Special Olympics debut in the 200m race because of an injury during a training session. He was naturally disappointed but took it in his stride, recovered, and later clinched a gold in his 100m race!
Jacob was a @specialolympicssg athlete competing at the @worldgamesad this past week. This year’s tagline ‘Meet the Determined’ could not be more apt to describe our athletes, who brought home 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 8 Bronze medals at the close of the games today. All of them showed passion for sporting excellence, plus determination in overcoming personal challenges.
We should celebrate such inspiring stories by our athletes who embody the never-give-up attitude, even when things do not go their way. Not forgetting the coaches, support staff, and families, who have cheered the athletes on at every stage of this journey.
We mark a decade of participation at these games this year. As a society, we have made much progress empowering people with disabilities. Let us continue to support and encourage them, and build a kinder and more inclusive society together! – LHL

Why is the PUB giving up its compensation claim from hyflux? While there is zero probability of getting full payment, it is their duty to the tax payer to attempt to recover every single dollar that is recoverable. The government and pub should not in anyway bail out hyflux. Letting them off the hook of a loss making contract for zero compensation is a bail out by stealth. This is a violation of the fiscal prudence and discipline that the singapore government is know for and that the people expect!

Thank you Sir for the kind words. Special Olympics Singapore strive to continue empowering people with Intellectual Disability through sports, health, education and leadership programme. People with ID, especially our athletes have proved that we can and will achieve! 💪 #SpecialOlympicsSG
