“The creation of the work of #art is the creation of the world.” Painted in 1928 while Wassily #Kandinsky was teaching at the #Bauhaus, this meditation on the essential beauty of #circles embodies the #aesthetic principles he promoted to his students. The circles appear to be floating in space, like #stars eclipsing and colliding with one another in their perpetual motion.

Marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the influential #German school of #art and #design, Sotheby’s #Impressionist and #ModernArt Evening and Day Sales will present artworks by those who taught at the Bauhaus and those whose outputs were transformed by its teachings.
