Happy Lunar New Year! It’s the year of the pig, and to celebrate we’re highlighting one of the world’s many pig species: the bearded pig (Sus barbatus). Native to Southeast Asia, the wild swine inhabits rainforests and mangroves, where it uses its long snout to dig up snacks like earthworms and roots. It’s distinguished by its bristly whiskers. Something else that sets it apart from its relatives? It has the leanest torso and longest head of all living pigs!
