Midnight in the Antarctic summer, 1910. Photographer Herbert Ponting spent more than a year with Captain Scott and his men in the Antarctic documenting their lives as they prepared to become the first to reach the South Pole. Following Scott’s tragic death, these photographs of the Heroic Age of Exploration were put on exhibition at @thefineartsociety in London in 1913 - the biggest exhibition of photography ever staged at the time. Now, The Fine Art Society, one of London’s oldest commercial galleries, is celebrating their 142 years at Sotheby's this week. #sothebysxfas
