My dad used to tell me that my heart was my most valuable asset, and I’d tell him, “But dad everyone says I’m too sensitive and maybe I am too sensitive for my own good.” And he’d tell me that that was the very part of myself that was magic and to never ever lose that. No matter how much it might be criticized or the fact I would endure deep hurts throughout life from it, he would tell me to never let the world ever change this part of me, to trust him on this and to pinky promise him too. I miss my dad. Time doesn’t change that at all. But I’m thankful that his words and spirit stay with me always. Here’s to you, Dad. I love you.
