This is a one-week-old little grebe chick that was brought to @hessilheadwildliferescue after being found alone on a pond in Rouken Glen Park, Glasgow. In its short stay, this little chick has proven to be quite independent, feeding well on mealworms, waxworms, and strips of fish. This species is the smallest member of the grebe family and not designed well for moving about on land. Its huge feet, good for propulsion in water, trip up the youngster when it tries to walk.
