Most of their winter habitat has been turned into coffee plantations, BUT, shade-grown coffee offers hope. When jungles are cut down in order to grow coffee in full sun, it destroys animal habitat. Since coffee is the second largest international commodity in the world (second only to oil) even a small change, like supporting shade-grown coffee instead of sun-grown, can have a huge impact! Shade-grown beans are often free of chemicals, preserve habitat, and allow more natural diversity of plant and animal life to exist.
