This adorable creature is a ring-tailed cat @fortworthzoo. Their scientific name translates to ‘cunning little fox’, although this species is actually a member of the raccoon family. Unlike raccoons, ringtails have long, slim bodies and a much longer tail. Their movements are like a cross between a ferret and a fox. They are incredible climbers and can descend trees and rocks head first by rotating their hind feet by 180 degrees! This species is common and widely distributed from central the United States to northern Mexico and adapts well to disturbed areas. They can also survive in hot, arid climates with limited access to drinking water.
