How do I stay eating plant based when I travel? ? Pretty easily! It just takes a little preparation and conversation! Here’s a few tips: ➡️ Before you go, look up plant based, vegetarian or vegan restaurants in the area. Even if there aren’t any exclusively veggie or vegan spots, often a google search shows trip advisor reviews which say if they have options! ➡️ Download the Happy Cow app. Type in your location and it will immediately show you all the veggie and vegan friendly spots in the area. ➡️ If you’re going to a regular restaurant then just ask very nicely for a vegan meal and they will happily help. It often goes down even better if you call ahead so the chef has prior warning. ➡️ If you can stay in an AirBnb or an apartment with a kitchen then you can make a few of your own meals, saving money too! ➡️ Carry essentials with you. I always take vegan protein powder and bars in my suitcase. ➡️ Go to local shops and stock up on snacks. When I was in Sri Lanka I bought bags of roasted chickpeas and tonnes of fresh fruit. They were a life saver. ?? Basically, don’t be afraid to be inconvenient or awkward and don’t be afraid to ask for meal modifications. That amazing plate of food in the photo above? I went to a mezze restaurant in Brussels and said “please can you make me a platter of everything you do that’s vegan?”. This epic spread came out ?
