Painted in 1950, ‘La Belle aux fleurs’ is Chagall’s heartfelt tribute to his late wife Bella, who died six years earlier. The couple had been married for almost 30 years and, even after her passing, Bella continued to be the subject and inspiration behind many of Chagall’s most celebrated works.
