📣 Christie’s Classic Week Evening sales realised a combined total of £34,125,850 / $42,896,193, achieving sell-through rates of 84% by lot and 90% by value.
Among the top lots of The Old Masters Part I Sale were Canaletto’s pair of Venetian vedute masterpieces which sold for £9,740,000, and Michael Sweerts, A portrait of the artist (?), presenting the Virgin in Prayer which realised £1,734,000.
A highlight of Ancient to Modern Art from the Mougins Museum of Classical Art, Part I Sale was Sir Antony Gormley’s Reflection II, exceeding the high estimate after prolonged and competitive bidding, totalling £730,800.
The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt Van Rijn realised £7,916,130 / $9,950,575, marking the highest total for an Old Masters Print sale since 1985, with 87% of lots selling above their high-estimate. Saint Jerome reading in an Italian Landscape sold for £1,552,500 after ten minutes of bidding.
