Yellowstone trip day 1: A few days before leaving, a friend of mine recommended a book for my travels: Yoga and the Quest for the True Self. I purchased it on the plane and started reading it after I couldn’t seem to shake the anxiety of my unfinished work that I was leaving behind. Who else feels the greatest pressures in their lives from the expectations they place on themselves? My guess is pretty much everyone. - In the intro of the book, it spoke of how our purpose in life is to find our true selves by removing the masks that we wear. I then started wondering what masks I wear in my life, when I put them on, and what I was trying to hide. When we were 10 minutes out from landing, my neighbor pulled the window open and told me to look. I had never seen snow covered mountains so close up before and I immediately felt my anxiety dissipate and in its place, a sense of awe and adventure. We got off the plane and started our unplanned trek to our hotel and stopped along the way in Teton and Yellowstone Parks. With my senses immersed in new experience, I realized how completely alive I felt in this environment. And it was then that the paragraph that I read about masks came back to me and truly resonated. The mask that slipped off when the window opened up was the mask of the business owner. The entrepreneur. The image that I try to project in order to feel like am worthy and capable of the responsibility that I carry. - I came on this trip to disconnect but what I found yesterday was a new sense of connection with who I am- my inner child that still loves spontaneous adventures and exploring the unknown. - And now I find myself asking, “when and why did I lose her?” - ? #yellowstonenationalpark #selfdiscovery #innerchild

In the intro of the book, it spoke of how our purpose in life is to find our true selves by removing the masks that we wear.
The mask that slipped off when the window opened up was the mask of the business owner.
The entrepreneur.
The image that I try to project in order to feel like am worthy and capable of the responsibility that I carry.
