Was glad to launch the Home Improvement Programme (HIP) for yet another Teck Ghee precinct yesterday. Besides essential home improvements, the HIP also offers homeowners a choice of other improvements to their homes.

We are also making homes safe and comfortable for the elderly through the Enhancement for Active Seniors (EASE), with improvements like grab bars and slip-resistant toilet floor tiles.

The Government makes these programmes very affordable. For Singaporean families essential improvements are free, while optional improvements are subsidised up to 95%. This is a good deal. I hope that when polling closes on Monday night, we will get the support of 75% of flat owners so that we can proceed. – LHL (MCI Photo by Terence Tan)
