Tomorrow, we celebrate our 52nd National Day. For five decades, our leaders and people have worked together to prepare for the future, even while addressing pressing concerns of the present.

This year I speak about three things that will benefit us in the long term: preschool, the war on diabetes, and building a Smart Nation. These will enable us to start right, stay healthy, and work smart. :) We need to look ahead and build for the next generation, just as our forefathers looked ahead and built for us. This is the spirit of Singapore – always looking forward and staying ahead, so that when the future arrives, we are ready to ride it and grow with it.
