Jian Qiang (in shirt and tie) is only 20, but already a seasoned Pioneer Generation (PG) Ambassador! He was inspired to become one after seeing how PG Ambassadors engaged his grandmother during a house visit. He even persuaded two of his secondary schoolmates, Yang Fan and Leroy, to become PGAs too!
Jian Qiang and his fellow PGAs come from all walks of life: students, housewives, professionals, retirees. Some are pioneers themselves! They not only need to study and master government programmes, but must also explain them to seniors, so the seniors understand how they can benefit.

We’d like to build on the PGAs’ links to seniors, and continue engaging them. We have a pilot programme to help seniors age gracefully, including bringing them for health screenings and group exercise sessions. The pilot has been successful, and we will expand it.

The PGAs embody the Singapore spirit, with their dedicated service to seniors. I was happy to thank them for their service at an appreciation lunch today. – LHL (MCI Photo by Betty Chua)
