About the late sunsets of July, and giving up on "desaturating". In less than a month, I'll have spent an entire decade of my life in the Eternal City (which is a LOT of time, since my whole life barely exceeds three decades). I remember as if it was yesterday, when I first laid eye on the blue sky of Rome, and felt as if I was enchanted by it. Ten years later, I can say that incantation has never been lifted off.
I wonder what it is with the golden light of this city, that reflects upon the ochre and pink crusty walls, and then shines on the shop windows, rooftop shingles and casually scattered ancient ruins with a pinkish glow.
When it had rained and winded, the pink magic sunset bursts gloriously upon the city, and in neighborhoods such as #Trastevere, it descends with a jaw-dropping flare. Like a bride taking her time to walk the aisle, permitting all watching to cherish her glow.
In a recent post @local_milk said about Marrakech, that before there was #millenialpink, there was Medina pink. Well, I think even before that, there was #RomanityPink. Not only on the walls, but also in the sky, squeezed in the clouds.
These moments are hard to capture, difficult to describe, and way too priceless to be over edited and desaturated.
So, there it is. Just another late July sunset in Trastevere.
