it's that time of year where nearly every moment is spent in the gardens
the very early parts of the mornings and the last bits of evenings before the darkness settles in
A basket and gloves and clippers perpetually in tow and a hat and long sleeves to guard against the sun - it's a good uniform for this time of year.

shaping molding encouraging the plants and landscape of the house to look as I imagine them, how I see them in my mind and desire for the kitchen
but this morning in the humid heavy grey I am looking not at the gardens but at the long grass of uncut fields, feathery and golden even in the rain. It's been too wet for its cutting and now it stands in stark contrast to the carefully worked gardens
and I can't help but love its beautiful earthy tones and wild unkemptness - its refusal to yield
