Walking home after the sunrise sparks of light shimmered through the trees. Sunbeams flared out of an ordinary hour. And then I moved just a little to the side and the brilliance of the sun blinded me. I couldn't look directly at it, that golden, ball of fire. But through the leaves, the light fell delicately, softened and almost tender, cascading from the heavens and making it possible to look straight into its beauty. The spiritual significance astounded me, hit me like a wave of awakening. If we look directly at the Divine we will burn up, be overwhelmed with the grandeur, the brightness, the splendor. Like when Arjuna asks Krishna to please take the human form again, we stand on the ground and lift our gaze to the most lofty heights. Then light shines down on us and with mercy, grace and compassion and meets us exactly where we are, with the warmth and care of a parent to a child. Children of light, beings of spirit, hearts of gold. That's who we really are. ?
