Day 11: Feeling Strong The strength that comes with meeting my macros is always the first thing I notice. If you've ever struggled with your weight, you've probably been programmed to think that you need to drastically "cut calories" to reach your goal. But when we drastically cut calories what happens to our metabolism? It goes down as well. My approach to counting macros is based on the complete opposite mentality: Do we need to be in a calorie deficit if we want to lose body fat? Yes, but most people who are on "weight loss diets" are eating WAY too little calories and end up either destroying their metabolisms or hitting a massive plateau, becoming stagnant in their progress. I think it's time we reprogram ourselves: Let's not only eat more, but let's eat exactly what our bodies need to reach our individual goals. Let's fit nutrient dense foods into our macros. Let's build that metabolism back up by eating the proper amount of protein and carbs to build muscle. Let's practice moderation and a healthy lifestyle change so that we can maintain these results instead of continuing in an unhealthy pattern of up and down. Let's stop listening to others and start listening to ourselves. What do you need? How do you feel? What do you want? Sometimes if we turn off the noise and listen to ourselves and our bodies, we'll realize that they're always trying to communicate with us. And unlike some of the people who have influence over you and your life, you always only want the best for you.
