Little known fact about me: my sense of humor. It wasn't always like that. I used to be so serious and apply myself with such devotion to every task that there was no space left to laugh and be silly. But somewhere along the way I found my humor, which is sometimes goofy, usually ironic, politically informed, hopefully intelligent and sometimes also tragic. But really, the ability to laugh at yourself is like being able to bring light into the darkness, to lighten up enough to smile, to relax, to drop the show, to let go of the fear of sharing something that might lay a piece of your soul bare. To just be yourself you have to be prepared to laugh a little, or maybe a lot. I don't have a game face anymore, I am who I am. I stop and appreciate flowers and make kissy faces in between all that yoga stuff. I'm not inspired by the drama, I'm inspired by peace. I had to cry a billion tears before I could let the weight of that old sadness go and then I watched as it lifted off. And then joy and happiness showed up, and so did humor.
