@annieleibovitz_ is arguably the world’s leading celebrity photographer. For 45 years, she’s been shooting for the glossy pages of @Rolling Stone, @Vanity Fair and @Vogue, earning what was once reported to be $5 million annually. But now, the 67-year-old photographer is returning to her most personal project: updating her 1999 book “Women,” a collaboration with her partner of 15 years, Susan Sontag, who died in 2004. To bring the 17-year-old work up to date, @annieleibovitz_ is making dozens of new images of female leaders — in politics, sports, business and culture. “Susan herself said this was always a work in progress,” @annieleibovitz_ told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “Women are a work in progress. To my dying day, I’ll be doing these photographs.” @philipmontgomery took this photo of #AnnieLeibovitz, right, and her longtime friend and new mentor, #GloriaSteinem, left, in the photographer’s studio.
