Rebecca Hall (@realrrbecca) gets why some people have qualms about seeing “Christine.” The film tells the story of the Florida news anchor Christine Chubbuck, who shot and killed herself on a live broadcast in 1974. When @realrrbecca first received the script, she hid it away. “I think my reaction was like a lot of people’s reactions,” the 34-year-old British actress told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “It seems very morbid and feels exploitative.” But when she read the screenplay, @realrrbecca saw a different story emerge, one drenched with empathy. So she took the role, and then, in a way, it took her. Now, critics are saying that @realrrbecca — who came to fame in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” — has delivered the performance of her career. “The kind of career that I want is not easy as a lady to manifest, because everyone wants a lady to be likable,” @realrrbecca told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. Christine may not be likable, but for that reason, @realrrbecca at least, is beloved. @tawnibannister photographed @realrrbecca at Elevated Acre Park in Manhattan.
